Does my property need an asbestos report?

Any property built or refurbished before 2000 can contain asbestos, in textured coatings, floor tiles, soffits, garage roofs, pipe lagging and more. If you are buying, renovating or letting a pre-2000 property, an asbestos report is the safe first step.

What is the difference between a management and a refurbishment survey?

A management survey locates and assesses asbestos that could be disturbed during normal occupation, and is the usual choice for homebuyers and landlords. A refurbishment and demolition survey is more intrusive and is needed before building or renovation work.

Will the specialist take samples?

Where a material looks suspect, small samples are taken and sent to a laboratory for testing. That is the only way to confirm whether a material actually contains asbestos.

Does finding asbestos mean expensive removal?

Not necessarily. Asbestos in good condition and unlikely to be disturbed can often be safely managed in place. The report assesses condition and risk and recommends the right course for each material found.
